Greetings from High-tech Industry Innovation Agency
Aiming to develop high technology and thereby promote reorganization of industrial structure, the High-tech Industry Innovation Agency was inaugurated in September 1985, so as to establish strong solidarity of various circles through information exchanges among concerned industrial fields, attitude surveys of policies/technology, and research and development, on the basis of close mutual cooperation among industry, government and academia.
Since then, the institute has attempted to promote industrial prosperity through various activities concerning the surrounding high-tech industry, and has continued to make efforts so that the prosperity could bring about the diffusion and development of high technology in Japan.
The industrial world in Japan is presently in the middle of a transition to an information-intensive society based on high technology. This innovation of the industrial structure may be referred to as "New Industrial Revolution." It is an emergent problem and requires that industry, government and academia, united together, push forward the reorganization of industrial structure, under development and promotion of advanced high technology.
The institute has provided updated information regarding trends in the nation's industrial policies and the fields of high-tech industry through symposia and study meetings. It has also played a role to generalize various opinions of business enterprises and have them reflected in policies.
Extending these operations, the institute will continue further positive activities, as a ground of symposia in which industry, government and academia join, as a ground of information exchanges among business enterprises, and as a ground of research and study of latest technology. We believe that our role at this time is to co-ordinate the activities of the concerned parties and promote the developent of technology for the future.
